Quran

The Quran is the Holy Book of Islam in which Allah (God) reveals all His teachings to the Muslims. It is every Muslim’s duty to study the Quran, to understand its meanings and to apply them in everyday life. Memorizing parts of the Quran is very important to every Muslim, as it is a requirement for prayer and worship of Allah.

For the lower grades, the emphasis of the Quran curriculum is on memorization. The Quran consists of thirty parts. The curriculum is divided such that certain chapters are studied and memorized in each grade level. By the end of grade Four, students read and memorize the twenty-ninth and thirtieth parts.

For the upper grades, the emphasis is on proper reading and understanding the meaning of the Quran. By the end of grade Eight, the students would have read the first eight chapters of the Quran and memorized three more chapters (29, 49, 36).
