New Students Registration: Academic Year 2008-09

Initial Requirements

  • Submit a Waiting List Application (Waiting List) - required only when desired grade is full or we are not yet accepting applications

Required when you receive an Application Packet

  • Submit an Application For Admission Form with Application Fee (non-refundable) by February 22, 2008Application Form
  • Submit a completed Financial Aid Application with Processing Fee and required documents by February 22, 2008 (Submit only if you feel you are qualified to receive Financial Aid)- Financial Aid Form
  • Grades K-8 must take an assessment test on March 29, 2008 (Important Dates & Deadlines). Note that there will be a charge for Makeup Assessment Tests. Assessment testing is done in two sessions. Parents will be notified by mail which session to bring their child to.
    • 1st testing session is from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Please arrive at 8:30 for the first session.
    • 2nd testing session is from 11:30 – 1:30 p.m. Please arrive at 11:00 for the second session.
    The test lasts approximately 2½ hours. Please bring the following student documents with you to the test (required for grades 1-8):
    • Copy of most recent report card
    • Copy of most recent standardized test results
  • PPK and PK Students: Complete and submit the "Children's Forms" packet to the Pre-K director for approval. The Physician’s Report must be completed by the physician.

Acceptance to GIS will be determined upon evaluation of the Assessment Test, Previous Report Card, interview and space availability. Applicants will be notified of acceptance status by April 11, 2008. Once a student receives notification of acceptance, parents must complete the registration process by May 2, 2008, to reserve a space in class for their child. Please note school will be closed for Spring Break from April 14-18, 2008.

Upon acceptance of the student, the following is required to reserve a space in class:

  • Completed and signed Financial Agreement (Financial Agreement)
  • New Student Registration Fee (non-refundable) to be paid by check or cash.
  • Annual Tuition, Activity Fee, Extended Care Fee and Volunteer Fee using one of the following methods of payment:
    • A check in the full annual amount dated as of the registration date or
    • A GIS Direct Payment Authorization form, completed and signed (Direct Payment Form)
  • Birth Certificate
  • Student Emergency Form (Emergency Form)
  • Transcript Request Form - required for grades 1-8 (Transcript Form)
  • Report of Health Exam (for Kindergarten and first grade) completed by your child’s doctor
  • Record of all required immunizations (Immunization Requirement) for PK-8 grades (per requirements of the California School Immunization Law)
  • Pre-K students submit completed Children’s Forms, if not already submitted
  • Extended Care Registration Form – optional (Extended Care Form)
  • GIS Volunteer Preference Form (Volunteer Form)

Required prior to starting school:

  • Textbook fees ranging from $50-$350 per student (non-refundable)
  • School uniform

The first day of school for the academic year 2008-09 will be Monday, August 25, 2008.
