August 2011
Dear Granada Parents – Assalamu ‘alaikum wa rahmatullhi wa barakatuh,
On behalf of the GIS Board, I would like to welcome both new and returning families to Granada for the school year 2011-12. We pray you all enjoyed a blessed Ramadan and Eid Mubarak!
Alhamdulillah – the board, GIS administration and staff are excited about the new school year, another year of wonderful opportunities to continue providing quality academic and Islamic education, developing lasting friendships and brother/sisterhood, and an avenue to strengthen moral character, inshaallah.
We are also excited with the challenges the new school year brings, as challenges present an excellent avenue for us to think critically beyond the usual framework, to improve and strengthen ourselves.
We remain committed to helping grow and improve Granada on all levels. The Long Term Strategic Plan preparation, involving studies and interviews are progressing well in earnest. Inshaallah, in a few months, the proposal will be completed and presented to all stakeholders.
While we continue to put efforts into addressing our WASC Action Plans, we would like to bring your attention to one of the most critical stakeholders in our ‘eco-system’, the ones whose GIS very existence hinges on – the dedicated teachers and staff. We want to reiterate our commitment to seeing action plans pertaining to teachers and staff are adequately and properly addressed. In this blessed month of Ramadhan, we humbly request you to remember them in your du’a.
Another area of focus, which will also be a major part of the Strategic Plan, is the Capital Improvement and Expansion. This is a critical area, one which will determine our path forward in our quest towards a Legacy of Excellence.
Last but definitely not least, like most community based schools, Granada greatly benefits from the participation and volunteerism of it’s students, parents and members – we encourage everyone to find an avenue to get involved whether that be in after school clubs, field trips, carpool, or other areas of interest. Please coordinate with your student’s teachers and PTSO to find an appropriate area of interest for you.
Wassalam
