Principal's Message
Dear Parents,
Assalam Alaikum.

Last month PTSO organized two successful events for GIS students, a Talent Show and Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week. I would like to personally thank all PTSO officers under the leadership of Genan Itani for taking the initiative to introduce new events to our program and for enhancing “old” traditions. Mashallah, more than 30 acts were presented at the Talent Show from students as young as Preschool age. The Talent Show acts were diverse and included Quran recitation, poetry, gymnastics and joke telling. I know all staff members enjoyed the festivities during Staff Appreciation Week. May Allah reward you all for your generosity and thoughtfulness, and reward our teachers for their hard work with our students.

Winners List
Congratulations to all the participants and winners of the Quran Competition and the Madeha Lashin Scholarship Award. Please see page 6 for a list of winners.

Playground update
During the Spring Break, construction work in the playground started, and it was decided to combine both phases (completing soft tiles in the whole area) to save on cost. The children are anxious to start using the new equipment, and I hope they will be able to enjoy their new playground very soon. Special thanks go to Board Member Br. Moaid Laymoun for following up with this project and parent Br. Abdul-Majid for providing his company to do some of the needed construction work for free.

TerraNova Testing
In the week of May 17, our students take the standardized test, TerraNova. Students in K and grades 4-8 will complete all testing on May 21. Grades 1, 2, and 3 will finish their test on May 25. Please note that there are no tests on Wednesday, May 19. Please read page 2 for testing guidelines.
