Students Choose the GIS Mascot
After 8 months since the Student Mascot Team began planning to choose a school mascot, K-8th grade students voted from the top two choices: Granada Grizzlies and the Granada Golden Eagles.
As of Friday, September 9, 2:30 pm, the GIS student body (K-8th grade students) overwhelmingly voted to embrace themselves as the Granada Golden Eagles. Upon learning the news through the school PA system, the students' cheers echoed throughout the halls.
The students identified the Granada Golden Eagle as smart, brave, protective, visionary, strong, handsome, loyal, assertive, determined, and powerful. The majority of the student body voted for The Granada Golden Eagles.
Phase 2: What will this mascot look like?
During the next month, we will choose an image of the Golden Eagle.
Students will be invited to submit their art work of the Golden Eagle mascot. The top one or two art work will be chosen. The student artists will then meet with a professional mascot artist to help finalize the image for use.
Students will be invited to submit drawings of the Golden Eagle. A team of students will decide on the top images. The student artist of the top images will meet with a professional mascot artist to help finalize the image.
Stay tuned for more information on how to submit drawings of the mascot.
