Elementary School Physical Education
Granada Islamic School takes pride in creating a fun, engaging, and safe physical education experience. The focus of the elementary physical education curriculum is Teamwork and Collaboration. Student success is achievable if students come to each and every class ready to participate, communicate to everyone in a positive manner, give it their best in every attempt they make, and keep the environment safe and fun for all of their classmates.
Students will be participating in physical education twice per week. These classes will consist of physical activities that address fitness, motor performance, and cognitive learning. Students will develop physical, mental, and social skills crucial for a child's development.

*Other sports are also considered based on class ability and teachers discretion.*
Required Materials:
You are REQUIRED to be prepared for class each day by having a change of clothes, which allows you to function athletically and promotes good hygiene. Appropriate clothes include: T-shirt and tennis shoes.
Grading:
You will be graded throughout the trimester on each of the PE Standards.
50% Class Participation - Daily scale of 0-3, updated weekly.
10% Effort - daily scale of 0-3, updated weekly.
20% Uniform - Daily scale of 0-3, updated weekly.
20% Benchmarks - Monthly testing of different components of fitness.
Limited participation:
For extended non-participation a doctor’s note is required.
For temporary limited participation a parent/guardian note is required and students will be asked to make up those points by a modified activity, assignment or scheduling a makeup with the teacher.
